There are many brands of minnow style swimmers.  Bomber, Rebel, and RedFin are among the old standards. These are superb plugs that put a lot of fish on the shore when long casts are not required. These plugs work best under the cover of darkness, but often produce well in low-light conditions. This video highlights a real fixture in the arsenal of shore-based striper anglers – the 6-inch Bomber.

The Daiwa Salt Pro Minnow is a relatively new member of the minnow lure class. Although it doesn’t look much different than a Bomber, it is very different in the way it casts farther and tracks well in moderate seas and sweep. It shouldn’t replace Bombers in a surfcaster’s arsenal, but is a lure you definitely want in the bag in many settings.
