Fishing with live or rigged eels is one the best ways a surfcaster can assure catches of quality stripers on a consistent basis. This video should be pretty convincing, and shows good demonstrations on how to react to hits on a live eel.

Unweighted live eels work great in inlets and channels, but the focus should be on the slack and slow moving water.
